Springwood Area Local News
Strengthening community, healing Country, and restoring the health of our planet.
Springwood Area Local News is part of a collaboration to reduce the risk of future disasters by expanding local communications – from the Lower Mountains to Lithgow.
This site links storytellers with community, highlighting grassroots local solutions. Our stories help us connect.
The stories we share focus on what people in our communities are actually doing, not what they could or should do. We are keen to celebrate what we have achieved, and learn from each other how best to move forward together.
Our stories will represent all sectors of the community, hoping to encourage more cross-sector collaborations.
Through strengthening local communications we hope to support communities to tackle the complex challenges we are all facing.

Workshops and events to reduce disaster risk
The Planetary Health Initiative has received funding to run workshops and events to reduce the risks of future natural disasters. These will include a focus on restoring the hydrological cycle and exploring community water management initiatives. These are being developed in consultation with community and researchers and will be shared via the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Pluriversity
